About PURE Electric

PURE Electric is one of the UK's leading electric mobility brands, founded by entrepreneur Adam Norris in 2018. Our mission is simple: to revolutionise urban travel through innovative, accessible and sustainable electric scooters.

Operating across the UK and Europe, PURE designs, develops and sells award-winning electric scooters combining cutting-edge technology with exceptional customer experience. As a fast-growing business with international operations, we continue to invest in our people, products and processes as we scale.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly collaborative finance team and play a key role in shaping the future of the finance function.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a highly motivated, detail-oriented Financial Controller to lead our day-to-day finance operations and help drive continuous improvement across the business.

Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, you will be a key member of a finance team of six, including the CFO. You will manage two direct reports and work closely alongside our Senior FP&A Analyst to ensure accurate reporting, strong financial controls and high-quality decision support across the business.

This role would suit an ambitious Finance Manager, Senior Accountant or someone looking to make their first move from an audit practice into industry. You'll gain broad exposure across a fast-paced international business while taking genuine ownership of core financial processes.

The role is fully remote, although occasional travel for team meetings may be required.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Month-End

  • Own and lead the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and month-end journals prepared by the finance team.

  • Take ownership of complex accounting areas, including inventory, cost of sales and product margin analysis.

  • Produce monthly management accounts and accompanying analysis across markets, sales channels and cost centres.

Controls & Process Improvement

  • Develop, maintain and enhance robust financial controls and governance processes.

  • Support the ongoing evolution of finance systems, processes and reporting capability.

  • Manage and maintain key control frameworks, including purchase approval workflows and delegation of authority policies.

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy and scalability across the finance function.

Audit, Tax & Compliance

  • Act as the primary contact for the annual external audit, coordinating planning through to completion.

  • Partner with external advisers to manage corporation tax compliance and maximise available tax reliefs, including R&D tax credits.

  • Oversee UK VAT reporting and manage outsourced VAT compliance across European entities.

  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of statutory, environmental and regulatory reporting requirements, including packaging, battery and ONS reporting.

Team Leadership

  • Manage, coach and develop two members of the finance team.

  • Review output, provide constructive feedback and support ongoing professional development.

  • Foster a high-performing, collaborative and continuous-improvement culture.

About You

We're looking for someone who is technically strong, commercially aware and enjoys getting into the detail while never losing sight of the bigger picture.

Essential

  • ACA or ACCA qualified (or qualified by experience with equivalent expertise).

  • Experience as a Senior Accountant, Finance Manager or Assistant Financial Controller, or looking to make a first move from practice.

  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and controls within a multi-entity environment.

  • Experience supporting or leading annual audits under FRS 102.

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

  • Proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work cross-functionally.

Desirable

  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365).

  • Exposure to international operations and multi-currency environments.

  • Experience managing R&D tax credit claims.

  • Previous people management experience.
